International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

AEON Celebrates IDWGS2019!

Monday, 11th February 2019 – Staffordshire, UK

Today we’re celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

Did you know less than 30% of Scientific and Technological Researchers are women?

Redefining Possibilities is at our core of our business. We want to help break down barriers and challenge the misconceptions that have resulted in the under-representation of Women in STEM. AEON recently partnered with IBM and Jaguar Land Rover to support the University of Manchester’s REFINE Project (Read more here..).

Most recently, Claire played a leading role in delivering the SKA’s Signal and Data Transport design, which passed its Critical Design Review (CDR) in January 2019 (Read more here…)

Looking forward, AEON will be supporting at the Greater Manchester Engineering Challenge 2019 #GMEC19 on 19th March 2019, along with Siemens, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (The IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (The IMechE).

Claire Brown, one of AEON’s systems engineers, will be joining teachers and students to work on innovative solutions around topics including:

  • Plastics
  • Air Pollution
  • Homelessness.

For more information on GMEC19 follow The University of Manchester’s Science & Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub.

“I am excited to attend GMEC19 and interact with the pupils and teachers. I think it is important to show that we [women in STEM] exist and that we get to work on amazing projects. Hopefully my attendance and input will inspire students to pursue sciences through their education.”
